Exciting News from Women in Entertainment!
For years, we’ve been honored to share the inspiring stories, groundbreaking work, and incredible leadership of women shaping the entertainment industry. Through our weekly newsletter, podcasts, annual conference, and more, we’ve built a vibrant network of storytellers, innovators, and trailblazers — men and women alike — coming together to explore the issues that matter to all of us.
Now, we're thrilled to take our mission even further. Starting this week, we’re launching an exclusive new Substack channel for Women in Entertainment — your front-row seat to even more in-depth content, behind-the-scenes insights, and thought-provoking discussions. To note, we will still be distributing our weekly newsletter via this channel, the Substack is in addition to our current content offerings, not in lieu of them. This is the next chapter in our mission of empowering voices, driving conversations, and celebrating the powerful impact of women in entertainment.
As we continue to grow, we’re introducing a subscription model for this new channel, ensuring we can continue to bring you the high-quality content you love, along with fresh, “for your eyes only” material. This is a special opportunity to support the ongoing work we do; your subscription will help us expand our reach and continue offering the content you care about most.
We can’t wait to share what’s coming – both the achievements and challenges. Join us on this exciting journey!
To kick off our new newsletter, you will find an excerpt below from our new sitdown with Netflix Sweet Magnolia’s Showrunner Sheryl Anderson.

Spotlight Q&A with Sweet Magnolia’s Showrunner Sheryl Anderson
This season started a year later from the last finale and with each character in a different place in their journey. Can you share the reasoning behind this time jump and how you approached developing each character’s arc for the new season?
The timeline of the first three seasons is so tight that we wanted to create some elbow room for our characters and give everyone a chance to start from a surprising place.
The story beautifully highlights the power of friendship. Do you draw inspiration from your friendships and relationships when crafting the scripts?
All the writers draw from their own relationships, sharing stories and conflicts and insight. But we rely on imagination, too. And a little wish fulfillment.
What are some of your favorite memories from filming this season?
Our core cast had so many great moments, as they always do, but if I have to single out something from Season 4: Having Caroline Lagerfelt, Jodi Benson, Judith Ivey, and Janet Hubert in one season, as our dynamic grandmothers, was a blessing and a blast.
The full interview will be available to paid subscribers of our Substack!
